This bit’s all about us!

It all started with peg dolls. Decades later, wonderful memories of creating stuff with her mum inspired Nicki Slater to set up the imagination workshop in December 2006. Now, our whole team is helping people of all ages experience the immense satisfaction of doing something creative - especially with your child or friends or colleagues. This is about much more than providing special times and parties for children! We make creativity fun and easy for all -
we believe everyone can express themselves artistically.

Meet our team

Claire
Actor, artist, singer. I can also paint faces and furniture and make a cake look like a cat.
I work part-time at the imagination workshop. I can’t pick one particular favourite artist, but I’m pretty impressed by illuminated manuscripts and quite fond of Seurat's dots. Favourite colour: fuchsia (but probably not on me). Best sweeties in the world: aniseed twists. Working at the imagination workshop is one of the finest jobs in the world and the most special thing about it is watching people create something lovely - even when they think they can't.

Debbie
I’m one Perthshire’s party hosts. Before this, I was the Events Manager with Nissan and now I’m a busy, busy mum of three! I love robins, orchids and all flavours of puddings and being part of the hands-on fun with the imagination workshop. Favourite colour? Rainbows (impossible to choose just one!).

Emma
I’m one of Aberdeen’s party hosts! Before this, I ran the children's arts & crafts sessions at The Lemon Tree (top arts venue in Aberdeen) for many years. In an ideal world, everything would be coloured purple. My favourite thing about the imagination workshop is the zillions of happy smiley faces at the end of a party.

Flo
I’m a part-timer in the Edinburgh workshop and run the mobile parties in Edinburgh and Lothians. Art is my No.1 hobby (I just graduated in microbiology!), after doing it A’ level. I love all art and artists but especially Salvador Dali. I love working at the imagination workshop - especially when birthday girl or boy brings Party Rings as part of their birthday tea! My favourite colour is turquoise.

Nic
I’m a party host in Edinburgh and Lothians and part-timer in the workshop too. I’m a primary school teacher on career break while being a great mum to two lovely girls. I like shoes, sunshine and books. Fave colour? Pink and sparkly. Favourite thing about the imagination workshop - the fab team I work with and all the children who bring us smiles.

Nicki
Very happy to be the founder and co-owner of the imagination workshop! I’ve loved arts & crafts since making peg dolls at age five with my mum. I like jelly tots, tulips and reading. Favourite colour? Orange. My favourite thing about the imagination workshop is seeing the pride in people’s faces when they create something they really love.

Vicky
I’m a photography graduate and my fave all-time photographer is Rinko Kawauchi. I dance like a robot! I love Capri-Sun. One of the best things about working at the imagination workshop is finding out what the kids have named the animals that they decorate!
